our Christmas decorations!

Merry Christmas everybody!! I really think it is the happiest time of the year. There are bright twinkling lights, sparkles, sequins, confetti, sprinkles, smiles, beautifully wrapped presents, & most of all, Jesus!

Our tree is my favorite tree we've had so far! I love how the Christmas tree is modern, but still colorful & not way out there. I decided to only use Christmas ball ornaments & white lights. I'm very happy with the way it turned out. I also decided to go with simple wrapped presents with satin ribbon. Everybody keeps asking me if the presents underneath the Christmas tree are real! haha I guess that's a good thing? :D Yes, they are real!

I really think our tree represents my husband and I. We are both a young couple, fun, {and a little me more than him, likes things colorful & a bit on the nontraditional side!}

{Click to enlarge pictures}

I will try to remember to get better pictures of the back wall for you later. I strung snowflake ornaments with fishing line. I love the way the snowflakes look against our dark gray walls & the map.

This is our buffet table in our living room. I love the way you can see the Christmas tree in ALL of the mirrors! Spectacular!! I bought the two Christmas trees at a thrift store for $4 each! They still had the Hallmark tags on them. I love the galvanized tubs they are in! I also spray painted the big vase turquoise. It use to be brown with swirls. Someone was getting rid of it & I scooped it up! It's one of my favorite pieces. Can you see the little bear in the top of the vase? You would definitely have to click on it to make it bigger! My mom bought me that the first year I got married, I love that ornament!

I love the snowball garland gives it a whimsical fun touch. I bought it at Micheal's.

& another Christmas tree picture.

I hope you all enjoyed! I will try to take more pictures of our decor today! Thanks for visiting our colorful Christmas! =)

Merry Christmas!!!

Caramel Apple Cupcakes!!

Yes, Carmel Apple Cupcakes... can fall get anymore delicious?! These were so much fun to make!! My house smelled AMAZING!! I don't think I've ever baked anything that smelled as good as these cupcakes did!

A pretty lil picture of all of the ingredients:

Apple Caramel Duncan Hines Cake Mix, 35 caramels, 1/4 cup Evaporated Milk, toppings, popsicle sticks, pumpkin cupcake wrappers =)

I used Duncan Hines "Apple Caramel" cake mix for the cupcakes. DELICIOUS. It has real apples in the cake mix as long as a caramel pouch you mix in the batter. Yum!

For the caramel topping, I used 1/4 cup of a Carnation's Evaporated Milk & 35 caramels. I cooked it on low & continually stirred it until it was all smooth & creamy.

For the toppings, I used what I already had on hand: honey roasted peanuts, candy corn autumn mix, & of course . . . SPRINKLES!

After they were all dressed up, you stick the Popsicle stick in the middle & wooolah!

Cute little things!!

They were DIVINE!

Happy Fall!!

Tybee Island and Savannah Resturants!

Earlier this year in March, my hubby & I visited Tybee Island & Savannah Georgia. And yes, we did fall madly in love with the area! I would seriously pack up & move there now if I could! A beach cottage on Tybee and/or a cute little townhouse/condo in Savannah, yes please!

It was definitely a place where you could just . . . breathe & take in all of the beauty. A huge difference then the crazy fast paced life in Hampton Roads/Virginia Beach where we live.

First, I thought I would give you all the run down on the food. Oh the FOOD! They seriously have the best seafood & restaurants I've ever been too!

Up first, is a cute little place called the Crab Shack in Tybee.

Beautiful views!

I wish I had taken better pictures of the inside, it was so cute! I loved all of the lighting. I'm sure it's even more adorable at night time.

I had a shrimp salad sandwich & she-crab soup. She-crab soup!! Oh my goodness, it was amazing. I almost didn't order it because I normally don't like things like that. I'm so thankful I did, it was DELICIOUS!! Notice the hole in the middle of the table near the hot sauce... after you are frinished eating, you just throw your paper plates down the shoot. Too cool! For some reason I didn't get a picture of Calvin's food, you can see it in the background a little bit. I guess he had already dug in!

The next place was the Shrimp Factory in Savannah. They give you these amazingly delicious blueberry muffins with honey butter with pecans to dip it in. Yummmmmm!!

I got a crab cake patty, rice, with two hush puppies. Very very good! I think Calvin ordered the same. =)

A+ for the Shrimp Factory from us! =)

The last place was the Old Pink House in Savannah. So beautiful, quaint, & historic!!

I ordered a shrimp roll with a summer salad.

Calvin ordered a fish sandwich with a summer salad =)

I would definitely recommend all 3 of these snazzy restaurants!!

ikea to the rescue!

I love this pink chair! It's $279, not bad at all. Now, if only there was a way to add nail-head trim . . . =)

pink!

I have been wanting to get two chairs for the living room for a little while now, just looking around occasionally, but not finding anything I really liked. I started looking in my living room board on Pinterest to see if I saw any trends/repeats of what I really like in a room for chairs. I spotted it immediately.

PINK!

I know, who would have thought that? lol

mason jars!

Do you ever stare at a wall & imagine what you could do with it? Or what it needs? I'm guilty of that! I was staring at our bedroom wall that has our white mirror on it & I kept thinking... it needs something. It hit me! I think it would be beautiful to have two mason jar sconces on both sides of the mirror. Preferrably blue mason jars.... oh yeah!

My brain is ticking! haha Has anyone ever done this before? Do tell! =)

going natural!

I was browsing through my In Style magazine and found this ad. I love her lipstick color! After doing some googling, I found that it is the shade "Boy."

Isn't this such a pretty shade? I love that the shade is very natural

red couches/furniture!

My friend Sierra just moved into an apartment & she has a red couch. I looked up some some photos to see what wall colors compliment red couches. Some of the photos don't have red couches in them, but rather red chairs, red bedding, etc. Some of the photos aren't all that pretty haha, so just pay attention to the wall color & the red piece of furniture.

I think that dark gray {picture #33 & #19}, light gray, beige {picture #6 & #25}, tan {picture #30}, and if you are feeling a little daring.. light blue & turquoise! {pictures #27, #28, #10} For a more peacock blue, #3 is really nice looking too with the red couch.

I also think that with the wall color dark gray or light gray, sleek decor would look really good {pictures #1 & #14}. I love the picture with the black & white stripe rug {picture #21} I also think that it would look really cool to incorporate turquoise or light blue to give it that beachy look as well... especially since you live next to the beach! =) {pictures 11 & 12} White frames hung on the wall would really pop. You could paint the walls beige or tan {if they aren't already} and you could make it feel more homey. Gray paint is modern but still can be cozy depending on the shade & your decor.

I also added some photos with just white walls just so you could see pops of red here & there.
If you do want something homey & cozy painting the walls a chocolate brown would look really cool too! You could still incorporate light blue & turquoise {if you like those colors! haha}

If you only like one thing out of a picture, save it under "love the photos on the wall" & save it to your computer. You may take it a little of something in one picture & a little something else in another picture. I also have dark gray, light gray, light blue, and turquoise examples in my house! lol Have fun!!
